Venice Gondola Stations: Map of the 10 Official Stazi
Reviewed October 2026
The City of Venice officially lists these 10 gondola stazi for the gondola service. They are not necessarily every place in Venice where a ride can begin: organized tours and other operators may use additional boarding or meeting points.
The City of Venice officially lists these 10 gondola stazi. The Comune publishes their names and contacts, but not coordinates, so we independently verified each current boarding location using current local, operator and mapping sources. The 10 stazi
Riva degli Schiavoni, by Hotel Danieli
Starting setting: San Marco Basin
Ride character: Starts on the San Marco Basin before turning into smaller canals behind the Doge’s Palace. A published Danieli itinerary follows Rio di Palazzo beneath the Bridge of Sighs, then toward Santa Maria Formosa and San Severo. Confirm that route before boarding if the bridge matters to you.
Nearby: Hotel Danieli · Bridge of Sighs
Next to the Colonna di San Marco
Starting setting: San Marco Basin
Ride character: Starts on open water by San Marco, with broad basin views before moving into smaller canals. The Molo operator describes departures from this pier into the city’s canals, but does not publish a fixed landmark itinerary. Confirm your preferred route before boarding.
Nearby: Doge's Palace · St Mark's Square
Calle Vallaresso, near Harry's Bar
Starting setting: San Marco waterfront
Ride character: Starts directly on the Grand Canal at Vallaresso. A published Dogana itinerary passes views toward Salute and the Guggenheim before entering secondary canals near La Fenice, Mozart’s house and San Moisè. It is a route example, not a guarantee for every ride.
Nearby: Harry's Bar · Giardinetti Reali
San Moisè, off Calle Larga XXII Marzo
Starting setting: Inner canal
Ride character: Starts in the smaller canals around San Moisè, giving an enclosed canal experience immediately. Gondola Bauer describes both Grand Canal and inner-canal sightseeing from this operation, with central landmarks including La Fenice and Salute. The exact combination depends on the route agreed.
Nearby: Teatro La Fenice · St Mark's Square
Campo Santa Maria del Giglio, by Gritti Palace
Starting setting: Grand Canal
Ride character: Starts directly on the Grand Canal beside the Gritti Palace. A published itinerary passes Palazzo Venier dei Leoni, the Guggenheim and Santa Maria della Salute before entering smaller canals. Treat that published itinerary as an example, not a standard route guarantee.
Nearby: Gritti Palace · Campo Santo Stefano
San Polo, near Campo San Tomà
Starting setting: Inner canal
Ride character: The San Tomà operator publishes different route families toward San Polo and Dorsoduro. San Polo material emphasizes inner waterways and Rialto; Dorsoduro material highlights Salute and the Squero di San Trovaso. Ask which route is available before boarding.
Nearby: Frari · Scuola Grande di San Rocco
At Bacino Orseolo
Starting setting: Enclosed basin / inner canals
Ride character: Begins inside Bacino Orseolo and moves into smaller San Marco canals immediately. A published itinerary uses Rio dei Barcaioli and Rio dell’Ovo to reach the Grand Canal at Rialto, then Rio San Luca on its return. It is a published route example, not a guaranteed standard ride.
Nearby: Teatro La Fenice · St Mark's Square
In front of Ristorante Omnibus
Starting setting: Grand Canal
Ride character: Starts immediately on the central Grand Canal below Rialto. The opening views are on Venice’s main waterway; smaller side canals may be possible depending on the route agreed. Confirm before boarding if an inner-canal component matters to you.
Nearby: Rialto Bridge · Riva del Carbon
Next to Foscari Palace
Starting setting: Grand Canal
Ride character: Starts directly on the Grand Canal from the Cannaregio side. A published 45-minute Santa Sofia product enters Cannaregio’s smaller canals around Santa Maria dei Miracoli and Marco Polo’s house before returning by Rialto. That longer itinerary is not implied for every standard ride.
Nearby: Foscari Palace · Rialto Market
Fondamenta Cossetti
Starting setting: Inner canal
Ride character: Starts in the inner canals near Ferrovia. The current operator’s 30-minute option focuses on Santa Croce and San Polo, including the Carmini area and Ca’ Zenobio; longer options add the Grand Canal, Scalzi, Rialto and San Marco. Those longer landmarks are not part of the standard 30-minute option.
Nearby: Ferrovia · Santa Lucia station
How the Comune-listed stazi work
You can approach a Comune-listed stazio directly during its operating hours for the regular gondola service. The Comune also publishes a contact for each stazio for tour information and reservations, so an official stazio is not limited to walk-up use. View the Comune's station list and contacts ↗
An organized or pre-booked experience may use another boarding point or a meeting point. A meeting point is where its operator asks you to gather; it may not be the actual gondola dock. A shared name with a traghetto does not establish the same exact dock.
Not sure which stazio to choose?
See our guide to the best places to take a gondola in Venice →Before you board a gondola
The official gondola fare does not depend on which stazio you choose. See gondola prices →
A stazio is a boarding point, not a guaranteed route. Routes can vary with canal traffic, tides, operating conditions and the gondolier. Before boarding, confirm the expected route, duration and price.
Questions about gondola stations
Choose by the kind of start you want: inner canals, the Grand Canal, open San Marco water, or a landmark nearby. For a broader area-by-area comparison, see our guide to the best places to take a gondola in Venice.
San Beneto, Trinità and San Marcuola all begin in enclosed or inner-canal settings. Danieli also moves from the San Marco Basin into smaller canals on a published itinerary, but no route is guaranteed.
Dogana, Santa Maria del Giglio, Carbon and Santa Sofia start directly on the Grand Canal. San Tomà can also offer routes that combine inner waterways with the Grand Canal, depending on what is arranged.
A stazio is a starting point, not a fixed itinerary. Tell the gondolier which landmarks or waterway experience matters to you before boarding; traffic, tides and operating conditions can still affect the route.
You can approach an official stazio directly, and the Comune publishes contacts for tour information and reservations. Reservation arrangements vary by stazio; the cards above include the current official contact links.
The municipal standard fare for the regulated gondola service is not station-specific. Separately sold pre-booked products can have different prices or durations; see our gondola price guide.
No. These are the ten stazi listed by the City of Venice; organized tours and other operators can use additional boarding points or meeting points.
No. A traghetto da parada is a public Grand Canal crossing, not a sightseeing gondola ride. Some names overlap, but the services and exact docks should not automatically be treated as the same; see our traghetto versus gondola guide.
